As a teacher, one of the most exciting times of the year is the Open House. It’s not just a chance for parents to see where their children spend their days—it’s an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, creativity, and growth of each student. When students see their work displayed in the classroom for everyone to admire, it boosts their confidence and gives them such a sense of pride. It’s also a powerful reminder for teachers of just how far their students have come along and all of the progress that has been made.
For students, Open House is like a mini-celebration. It’s a moment for them to show off their projects, artwork, and achievements, often alongside their classmates. Whether it’s a science project, something that they’ve written, or a piece of artwork they’ve poured their heart into, seeing their work admired by family members and peers makes all the effort feel worthwhile. These moments also strengthen the relationship between home and school, as parents get to see firsthand the environment in which their child thrives. It’s a day that not only reinforces the value of their learning, but also creates a sense of community.
To make your Open House extra special, consider using some resources (I have a quite a few resources in my TPT shop) that can help you organize and display your students’ work in an engaging way. My resource shop offers a variety of products, like student work (writing), colorful photo props, and other activities to keep kids engaged!
